God’s Perfect Law

English Audio Version

We know we must have law for society to have order, but that doesn’t mean we always like it.

The speed limit. What’s the point in our high-powered sports car if we can only do 40?

And homeowner’s restrictions … or city parking laws. It’s our home. Why can’t we do what we want?

Then there’s the church. Rules for this and rules for that. We must wear our shirt fastened to this button, our hair to a certain length, and heaven forbid we show up at prayer meeting with too much eyeliner.

God wipes his hand across the church’s lawbooks and says, “Forget all that. I have a better way.”

James 1:25 reveals God’s plan for living according to his laws.

“But the one who looks into the perfect law, the law of liberty, and perseveres, being no hearer who forgets but a doer who acts, he will be blessed in his doing.”

God’s law is a perfect law with none of our human imperfections. God’s law gives us liberty to be a better person, a kinder person, and one who lives a cleaner life.

God’s only speed limit is how fast we want to go to catch up to him.
