3 Guidelines for Becoming God’s Champion

English Audio Version

What’s the cost of reaching the top of your game?

For an Olympic athlete, there are financial sacrifices, hours in training, and the stress of competing against the best in the world.

In the medical field, you’ll face a decade of higher education, long hours in the dead of night, and excruciating moral responsibility.

What’s the cost of becoming a top-notch Christian?

What does God require of us to become a champion for the Lord?

Luke 12:33 gives us 3 Guidelines for Becoming God’s Champion.

“Sell your possessions, and give to the needy. Provide yourselves with moneybags that do not grow old, with a treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches and no moth destroys.”

Our 1st Guideline:

We must sell our possessions.

That’s a hard one for modern-day Americans. We have so much stuff, and it all feels vitally important to us.

When our stuff is more important than God, it’s time for it to go.

Our 2nd Guideline:

Give to the needy.

What!?! Don’t they have two legs? Can’t they do something to improve their own situation? Why should it be up to me?

It’s our care and concern for others that lifts us above the world.

Our 3rd Guideline:

Our moneybags that don’t grow old aren’t moneybags at all.

This guideline says some things are more important than money. Service to our fellow man. Consideration for others. A life lived in dedication to advancing the cause of Christ.

True Christianity isn’t what we get out of it but what we can do for others.

How’s your workout going? Are your champion muscles gaining strength?

Are you chasing God’s knowledge, spending time in the Word, and shouldering the moral responsibility Christ has made ours?

God wants you for his champion. Now’s the time for you to make your move.
