The Benefit of Patience

English Audio Version

We live in a rush.

The soccer game is at six, we have church at seven, and we want to catch the news at ten. In between, we need to find time for dinner, pick up the cupcakes from the bakery, and get by the cleaners.

To top it off, our kiddos are slowing us down at every turn.

How can we possibly get it all done?

God’s Word says to step back and put it all in focus. Remember the important things. Keep track of our faith and our family. The rest? They pale in significance.

Galatians 6:9 says nothing that needs done will get left out.

“And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.”

Hebrews 10:23 reminds us to put God first, even before our errands.

“Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.”

Matthew 24:13 says we must be steady in our pursuit of our goals.

“But the one who endures to the end will be saved.”

Hebrews 6:12 tells us laziness is not the same as patience.

“So that you may not be sluggish, but imitators of those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.”

James 1:2-4 explains that our struggles with the challenges of life will teach us patience, and in patience, we will become perfect in God.

“Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds, for you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. And let steadfastness have its full effect, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking in nothing.”

Life isn’t about to slow down. Our job is to deal with it in a measured fashion.

We will succeed by doing two things:

1. Keep God first in all situations.

2. Strive for patience that we might become perfect in Christ.

When trouble no longer binds us, we prove our trust in our Lord.
