There are times we can’t help but be a bull in a china shop.
The rules are unclear to us, we’re out-and-out inexperienced, or we simply have a bad morning, and we let our self-control slip.
We bumble along in our efforts to serve Jesus, and we look back in dismay at the disarray strewn along our path.
Isaiah 35:8 reminds us that God looks at our heart, not the residue of our walk.
“And a highway shall be there, and it shall be called the Way of Holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it. It shall belong to those who walk on the way; even if they are fools, they shall not go astray.”
God’s Word is clear: We are to live clean and upright lives. Our standard has been set. Those who purposefully look to the world for their pleasure have no place in the kingdom of God.
Yet, if we strive to emulate Christ, and if we continually try to clean wrongdoing from our lives, God respects that. He will keep his hand on us, even when we make foolish mistakes. We are his children, and he’d rather have us bumbling along for Jesus than chasing after the things of the world.
If we focus on Jesus, our Father in heaven will keep us from harm.
