Finding God’s Standard

English Audio Version

How do we recognize a Christian?

By the style of their hair? The cut of their clothes?

There’s more to following Christ than how we look as we walk out of the church. It’s in the kindness we offer to others, the care we take to uphold our moral principles, and our willingness to share our earthly wealth.

Our challenge is to find where our benchmark is. What would Jesus do in our situation? How can we know?

Our example is found in the Word of God. We see how the great men of the Bible lived their lives, and that gives us a yardstick by which to measure ourselves.

1 Corinthians 10:31 gives us a barometer-perfect standard:

“So, whether you eat or drink, or whatever you do, do all to the glory of God.”

We must picture each activity we do through a glass etched with the words, “How does this glorify God?”

If we must shrug and say it doesn’t, then that activity isn’t for us.

When we live by God’s standards, the world won’t have to ask if we’re a Christian.
