Life is like driving a fast car.
We can get away with anything we want, if there are no police sirens clipping our wings. We can enjoy our hotrod lifestyle.
Spin those tires? Sure.
A donut or two? Absolutely.
What about a drag race? It’s all in fun.
How many of us treat our Christianity the same way? If no one sees us . . . but then, what if they do?
1 Corinthians 6:12 speaks to the hotrod Christian:
“ ‘All things are lawful for me,’ but not all things are helpful. ‘All things are lawful for me,’ but I will not be dominated by anything.”
We fly close to the edge when we base our behavior on what we can get away with. We’re better off to remember the rule book, and present our best, even when the lawman’s not watching.
What we do in private is what we’ll be in public. There’s no hiding who we are.
Let’s be like Christ, in form, function, and appearance. Let’s emulate the way the Master lived.
