A Living Sacrifice

―  Also find us at www.MyChurchNotes.com  ―

A will is something we normally read after a person’s demise.

They are gone, and they’re telling us what they want done with the effects they’ve left behind.

What about a living will? Huh? How can we dispense a will if we’re still alive?

The point of a living will is to direct our end-of-life activities if we are unable to communicate our wishes.

A living sacrifice is very much the same. We offer ourselves to the Lord, body and soul, and we ask the Lord to direct the rest of our life. We give up communicating our wishes and trust our future to God’s care.

Proverbs 3:5-6 gives us confidence that we can trust God to guide us faithfully and with a sure step. We’ll never falter if our faith is totally based in him.

“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.”

Romans 12:1-2 is our process by which we turn over control to God. We quit copying what the world does; our priorities become God’s priorities; and we search for his will on a daily basis.

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Our spiritual living will should be to become a living sacrifice for Christ. While we live and breathe, we have the opportunity to serve him as our Master and King. If our Christian walk is only about making heaven our home, then we’ve missed out on what the Christian experience is all about.

Our service to Jesus is what makes Jesus desirable to those who don’t know him. Let’s make that sacrifice today.
