Bonsai Living

English Audio Version

Bonsai trees are beautiful, miniature creations that are lovingly crafted and passed down through the years. In some cultures, it’s not unusual to receive a tree that belonged to a parent or a grandparent.

The thing we need to understand about bonsai trees is that they don’t naturally grow into their beautiful shapes all on their own. They must be clipped, pruned, and forced to take the desired shape, in order to bring out their exquisite beauty.

A bonsai gardener must be willing to sacrifice parts of the tree to let the rest stand out from the ordinary.

As Christians, we must be willing to be pruned by Christ if we are to achieve the level of magnificence he has in mind for us.

Romans 12:1 tells us:

“I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship.”

We give ourselves up to God and allow him to clip, prune, and force our lives into whatever shape he requires. It’s no longer about us, but about what God wants to do with us.

We worship God in spirit when we allow him to have full control of our lives. Our sacrifice is our praise unto him.
