Restored to Our Rightful Position

Samson led an amazing life. He was graced with the ultimate blessing of God, for he was unable to be defeated as long as he never let a razor touch his head.

In a weak moment, Samson lost his position of power. He landed in prison, blinded and bound in bronze shackles.

However, his hair once again began to grow. Sampson had been stripped of his position of power, but God restored him to his rightful place and blessed him once again with a greater strength than any other man possessed.

Judges 16:30 tells us:

“Then he bowed with all his strength, and the house fell upon the lords and upon all the people who were in it. So the dead whom he killed at his death were more than those whom he had killed during his life.”

God is waiting to restore us. He wants to return what we’ve lost. He wants to lift us up, and at the end, he wants to give us more than we had in the beginning.

Colossians 1:13 tells of our upcoming renewal:

“He has delivered us from the domain of darkness and transferred us to the kingdom of his beloved Son.”

1 John 2:27 says his power will remain with us always:

“But the anointing that you received from him abides in you, and you have no need that anyone should teach you. But as his anointing teaches you about everything, and is true, and is no lie—just as it has taught you, abide in him.”

1 Peter 2:21 reveals God’s reasons for gifting his power unto us:

“For to this you have been called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example, so that you might follow in his steps.”

2 Timothy 2:15 tells our part in the process:

“Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who has no need to be ashamed, rightly handling the word of truth.”

Colossians 1:26 says God’s power is given to all of us:

“The mystery hidden for ages and generations but now revealed to his saints.”

Ephesians 6:17 is our hair regrown, our protection on our head, and our sword in our hand:

“And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.”

We may be down, but we’re coming up. Whatever’s happened in the past, God is restoring us to our rightful position in him. He’s providing the opportunity. All we need to do is pull down the house, and all our enemies will be vanquished in the name of our Lord!

When we depend on Jesus’ power, we will escape from the prison of the weak and weary.
