A cacophony … wait, what?!?
Isn’t cacophony something bad?
Like … things that don’t go together … music played out of key … or home decorations in glaringly different styles or colors?
We don’t want a cacophony in our lives, do we?
Well … yes, we do. Let me explain.
Remember, our title is A Cacophony of Successes, so let’s start with successes. We definitely want those.
We win the skating championship. We buy our first car. We get married … have children … even put one or two through college.
Success! Yahoo!
We easily remember those. But what about other successes, ones harder to keep tabs on?
The day we accepted Christ … the friend we led to Jesus … the healing that God provided … the child God gave us patience to raise … the tough times he brought us through …
1 Chronicles 16:11-12 (NIV) tells us:
"Look to the Lord and his strength; seek his face always. Remember the wonders he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he pronounced."
We want the miracles of God to jumble our thoughts, fill up our day, and be present in everything we do.
We want a cacophony of successes always surrounding us!
Make a list. Refer to it each morning. Reread it at noon. Share it around the supper table.
Let’s remind ourselves of God’s goodness and the great things he has done for us so that we can trust him to do mighty works in the days to come!
Let God’s wonders be your focus throughout each day!
