A motivational speaker offered the people gathered in his audience a crisp $50 bill.
All hands went up.
The speaker crumpled the bill and offered it again. Once more, all hands were raised.
Even when he dropped the bill to the floor and stomped on it, everyone was willing to accept it as theirs.
He then explained that no matter how he tried to ruin the money, the value was still the same.
The same is true for us. Circumstance may batter us, crumple our spirit, even grind us into the soil. Still, we are valued by God.
John 1:12 tells us:
“Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.”
Notice what this doesn’t say: All those who have lived good lives…
Nope, not by a long shot. It says that all who did receive him.
You have value. No matter how life has come against you, you are as valuable now as you were then.
Stand with your shoulders back. If you’ve received Christ, you are a child of the king, and you are destined to inherit all the riches of his kingdom.
That should make you want to shout!
