Fall can be a time of glorious beauty, as seen in the striking reds and oranges of the countryside. It is a time of harvest and a season of plenty, when all the labors of summer have come to an end.
God’s true generosity is seen in the unearned bounty he strews across his creation, for in the lowly ACORN he provides sustenance for those who gather before him.
Let’s look at our ACORN God:
A – He is our ALL in ALL.
Colossians 3:11 tells us that if we are risen in Christ, then we have need of nothing else, because Christ takes the place of everything else.
Not only should we look for the fruit of Christ in others, we must endeavor to show the fruit of Christ to them, for he is ALL we need.
C – He is the CHOICE one that we treasure.
Deuteronomy 7:9 speaks of the covenant of mercy that God has for those who choose him.
God must be first in our priorities, the first CHOICE in all our considerations.
O – He is the OFFERING that covers all our sins.
Ephesians 5:2 gives us a picture of God’s plan for salvation, for Christ came to become a sacrifice for us that we might come to him.
Just as the acorn is filled with life, so Jesus gave us life when he became an OFFERING before the Father God.
R – He is our RUTH.
Ruth 1:16 reveals the innermost heart of our God, for RUTH cried unto Naomi, I will go where you go.
When we come to the Father, he also comes to us and becomes our RUTH, for he declares he will be with us wherever we go.
N – He NUMBERS the stars.
Psalm 147:4 shows the intimacy of God’s love for us. There are billions and billions of stars but each one is known to God.
Not only does God NUMBER the stars, he calls each of them by its name. If God is personally aware of each of the mighty orbs in the heavens, how much more is he aware of us?
All we need to do is look around us, and we will see the mighty hand of God, from the stars in the heavens, to the ACORNS that fall from the tree.
