The dumps are no place to be.
We want out, to be in the sunshine, and to have a smile on our face.
God lifts us up from the shadowy places. We see this in the life of Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 17:5.
“Therefore the Lord established the kingdom in his hand. And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat, and he had great riches and honor.”
Let’s break down this verse so we can know what to expect from the Lord.
Therefore the Lord established the kingdom . . .
This is God’s doing. He’s the one that will change things in our life. He will establish us when we draw close to him and commit our lives to his way.
. . . in his hand . . .
We can’t expect to reside in the blessings of God if we insist on our own way. We must remain in the hand of the Almighty Father.
And all Judah brought tribute to Jehoshaphat . . .
When God honors us, those around us will sense our honor, and they will respond.
. . . and he had great riches and honor.
This is the plan of God, for us to draw close to him and make him the center of all that we are. The shadows are banished from our life, and the sunshine is here to stay.
Here’s the verse summed up:
- It’s about God.
- It’s not about us.
- God loves to hand out honor.
- His riches are endless.
The dumps are banished forever! It’s time to live in the light! Jesus is our path out of our troubled times!
We are lifted high when we soar with the Master of creation, our great Jehovah God.
