Sing a New Praise Unto the Great I Am

―  Also find us at www.MyChurchNotes.com  ―

Things that fall into threes seem to have special significance.

How many days was Jonah in the whale? Three. Jesus in the tomb? Three days. We record three members in the godhead. There’s the body, mind, and spirit. Earth, sea, and sky. Faith, hope, and charity.

Psalm 33:1-3 gives us three special levels of praise unto our almighty God:

Praise Level No. 1:

“Shout for joy in the Lord, O you righteous!”

Praise should be in the heart of every child of God. It should ring out in our words and our actions.

“Praise befits the upright.”

When our words of acclaim match the way we live, Christ will be lifted up before all people.

Praise Level No. 2:

“Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre;”

Music is part of our praise plan before God. It changes our mind and recharges our spirit. We feel better when we praise the Lord with an instrument of music.

“...make melody to him with the harp of ten strings!”

The harp is one of the most beautiful of instruments, but it’s extremely difficult to play. Our extra effort in our praise unto Christ is our sacrifice of joy unto him.

Praise Level No. 3:

“Sing to him a new song;”

Our new song is our salvation and upcoming reunion with our Father. Let’s rejoice in his promise given on the cross and sealed by the blood of the Lamb.

“...play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts.”

Our greatest praise is to live by the precepts of the Word and to emulate the holy and sinless life of Jesus Christ. Our lives will then shout in glorious adulation unto our God and Lord.

Hip, hip, hurrah! Three cheers for Jesus! When we raise our praises unto him, he is eternally glorified.
