One of the first signs that the ravages of summer have come to an end are the changing colors in the trees. The tips of the leaves begin to take on the slightest tints of red and orange, and we feel the anticipation of fall foliage all over us.
The most stunning of the colors comes through in Colorado’s aspen trees. They turn a vibrant shade of GOLD, and when the sun backlights them in the early morning or late afternoon, they glow with the beauty of God’s greatest creation.
That’s just like our God, for it’s when we see our world through the light of his love that the most mundane events glow with GOLDEN beauty, taking our breath away.
Let’s look at our GOLDEN God:
G – He wants us to rejoice with GLADNESS before him.
Numbers 10:10 tells us that our rejoicing in God reminds us of him. We are to blow trumpets so that everyone will know of our GLADNESS in our heavenly Father.
O – His OINTMENTS are the sweet spices that enrich our days.
Solomon 1:3 describes the pleasures that come from our God. His anointing oils are fragrant, his name is like a sweet OINTMENT, and his richness draws us unto him.
L – He LOVED us enough to give us his most precious possession.
1 John 4:10 reminds us that the true beauty of the salvation message is not our love for him, but rather that he LOVED us enough to send Jesus to die for our sins.
D – He gives us a full DISPENSATION of his grace and knowledge.
Colossians 1:25 reveals his trust in us, for when we become his children, his DISPENSATION reflects his love for his creation and his desire for us to reach out to those who do not know him.
E – He ENDUES us with the ongoing power of the promise of the Holy Spirit.
Luke 24:29 relates the promised revelation of the Holy Spirit. If we wait on him, he will ENDUE us with greater power than we have ever known.
N – He NOURISHES us during our times of plenty and our times of lack.
Genesis 45:11 speaks to the relationship between Joseph and his brothers. Joseph reveals himself to his brothers as God reveals himself to us, telling us he NOURISHES us, and that we need have no fear of anything that goes on in the world.
God’s hand on our lives is a stunning example of his magnificent glory. When we look up, we will see his light shining through the events of our days, and we will view things in a whole new way. A golden glow will emanate from all that we see, for we will experience the glory of the Father backlighting every moment of every day.
When God shines through our days, each moment will pop with the beauty of his glory.
