Our BREEZY God

On those first days of May, when the first real warmth hints at the coming summer, we look for relief. It is the still air that is the problem, for when the breeze picks up, we feel cooling respite wash over us once again.

That is what our God does for us. When we sense a hard time coming our way, and we feel it pressing in on us, he comes to us in spirit and truth, the freshened breeze that brings us relief.

Let’s take a look at our BREEZY God:

B – He BLESSES all that our hands touch.

Genesis 1:28 is the beginning of all life upon the earth as we know it. In this verse, God speaks to Adam and Eve. He BLESSES them, telling them that all the earth is theirs for the taking.

R – He REDEEMS us from all sin and impurities.

Titus 2:14 tells of our Savior who died upon the cross, that he gave himself for us that he might REDEEM us unto purity and good works.

E – He is our ENCOURAGER when life beats us down.

In 1 Samuel 30:6, David was fearful of being stoned by his people, yet he found strength in his ENCOURAGER, the Lord his God.

E – He EXTENDS his peace to us, and we will find our sustenance in him.

Isaiah 66:12 reveals the Lord’s words: I will EXTEND peace to you like a river, and I will bear you up on all sides.

Z – He has a great ZEAL for his children.

Colossians 4:13 speaks of Epaphras, a servant of Christ, but this verse reflects Christ’s love toward his loved ones. He has a great ZEAL for those who choose to follow the cross.

Y – He does not despise our YOUTH, even when we falter in our desire for him.

1 Timothy 4:12 reflects his desires for us: Even in our YOUTH, he expects us to be an example to the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, and in purity.

Our God understands the coming summer, and he is there to remind us that it is in his hand that we rest, and he will lift us up in all things.

When the heat is upon us, our God will refresh us with his loving touch.
