Bright lights, shiny bows, and cheerful music.
Christmas is all it’s built up to be. Happiness abounds, and the holiday magic lifts us to heights of joy.
Except when it doesn’t.
The real issue is that we’ve drifted from the truth of the Christmas message.
We’ve lost the connection to the core message of the manger.
We are awash in worldly sparkles but bereft of Bethlehem’s true beauty.
Luke 2:11 says it perfectly:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
We’ve seen this verse, but have we really SEEN it? Let’s break it into manageable bites.
“For unto you …”
YOU. Christian and non-Christian. Muslim. Jew. White. Black. Old. Young. Male. Female. Yes, YOU.
“… is born this day …”
The NEWNESS of life … the gift of the almighty God, a fresh beginning.
“… in the city of David …”
In the core of God’s most holy place. The birth of Jesus flows from the heart of God unto his creation.
“… a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”
We are REDEEMED in him. In Christ is our SALVATION. Beneath the bright lights, shiny bows, and cheerful music, our core connection must be the CHRIST who lays in the manger, the SAVIOR who will offer healing and redemption to his fellow men and die on the cross so that he can become the BRIDGE between us and God.
Amen! Our Redemption Is Come!
