God’s Plaster Redemption

A plaster (or band aid, for the American reader) is a fix for what ails us.

The old-English origin of the word means a bandage with something extra, a curative substance intended to help with the healing process. The medical Latin word for this type of healing application is Emplastrum … or, drum roll, plaster.

We apply a plaster to a wound, along with an antiseptic ointment, to speed up the healing process. We can also apply a plaster to situations, perhaps bring flowers after an argument, or even offer a sincere apology.

Band aids for the soul. Or for the emotions, sometimes.

How about for our relationship with God. Is there a plaster for that?

2 Chronicles 7:14 tells us:

"If my people who are called by My name humble themselves, and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land."

Band aid at the ready.

Plaster applied.

Antiseptic ointment—God’s forgiveness—on the wound and working.

God wants to forgive our sins. He wants to heal our land … our emotions … our relationships … our finances … all of it.

The first step is ours, to pray, seek his face, and turn from our wicked ways.

Today’s the day. Now’s our time. The change starts this moment, right now.

Plaster at the ready … apply NOW!

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
