It’s no small thing to say Jesus changed the world.
His presence, first as a small child and later as a martyr upon the cross, impacted the world’s view of religion and how we are to conduct ourselves in relation to God and other people.
Matthew 1:12 reveals the words that opened the possibility of a Savior to minister to a hurting and needy people.
“She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.”
Mary wasn’t the only one to receive the word of an impending Savior. Luke 2:8-9 tells us:
“And in the same region there were shepherds out in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night. And an angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were filled with great fear.”
Matthew 2:1-2 gives us three additional worshippers who felt the drawing spirit of an upcoming heavenly visitation.
“Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, wise men from the east came to Jerusalem, saying, ‘Where is he who has been born king of the Jews? For we saw his star when it rose and have come to worship him.’ ”
John 1:29 reveals Jesus in his magnificent purpose, the Son of God come to cleanse the world of wrongdoing and its consequences.
“The next day he saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, ‘Behold, the Lamb of God, who takes away the sin of the world!’ ”
We’ve seen the posters proclaiming that Jesus Is the Reason for the Season, and that’s true.
More importantly, Jesus is the reason we can stand in purity and without shame before the Lord in heaven. Christ is our redeemer, our salvation, and the uplifter of our days. When we anticipate his presence each day, we look forward to the best heaven has to offer.
As David Jeremiah, Christian author and pastor says, “All the Christmas presents in the world are worth nothing without the presence of Christ.”
Our life is found in Christ, and our days are better when lived in his glory.
