Twisted Logic

Heaven and Hell.

In the book of the same name by Kenneth Zeigler, a couple are killed in a car accident. One goes to Heaven, and the other is whisked away to Hell. The husband—in Heaven—is allowed no memory of his wife, but in Hell, she remembers both him and every time he encouraged her to accept Jesus as her savior.

Her logical response while she was alive? His religion was sweet, and she played along, but other beliefs seemed equally palatable to her. Upon her death, the flaws in her logic exposed themselves, but her regrets couldn’t remedy her eternal assignment to her hellish reward for a life selfishly lived.

Twisted logic is the belief that we can think what we want to think, and it doesn’t matter. God is as we make him. However, just believing in a punishment-free afterlife, reincarnation, or no afterlife at all doesn’t change the truth. We make our choice in this life, and we live with that choice when we move on to the next world.

1 John 5:7-9 tells us:

“For there are three that testify: the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree. If we receive the testimony of men, the testimony of God is greater, for this is the testimony of God that he has borne concerning his Son.”

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 says:

“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body.”

Hosea 4:6 reminds us:

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you have rejected knowledge, I reject you from being a priest to me. And since you have forgotten the law of your God, I also will forget your children.”

Heaven and Hell are real places. Man’s twisted logic says we can choose to believe or not. God’s logic says now’s our chance to receive salvation through Jesus Christ, the Son.

We have free will, but the time to choose is now. Heaven or Hell? Either one is ours for the asking.
