The Steam Cycle

We no longer have to wash our clothes.

Okay, that’s a little extreme, because we do have to wash them sometimes, but the newest laundry machines have a luxury feature called the steam cycle. It allows us to throw a slightly crumpled garment in the dryer, shoot a small amount of superheated steam through it, and not only does the fabric release the wrinkles, but any perspiration odor is effectively neutralized.

It’s like an in-house dry clean cycle without the chemicals. Who wouldn’t love that?

When Jesus came to live on earth, that’s what he did for those who chose to follow him. He infused them with the superheated steam of his righteousness, effectively removing the wrinkles of life’s troubles and cleansing away the odor of sin.

His followers were zapped in the steam cycle.

John 3:16 is God’s advertisement for his steam cycle cleaning. This verse tells why we need zapped and the results we can expect to see.

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.”

Acts 2:38 provides our step-by-step instructions to use our steam cycle zapper. If we do the first and follow through with the second, the third will automatically come to us.

“And Peter said to them, ‘Repent and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’ ”

Ephesians 2:8 explains the steam cycle process. When we understand how it works, we know we can trust it every time.

“For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God.”

John 10:28 is our written guarantee. God promises results when we step into his steam cycle.

“I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them out of my hand.”

Numbers 23:19 tells the manufacturer’s history, so that we can feel confident in our decision to use his steam cleaning process.

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

When we walk in the world, we become stained with the sin of the world. Our Father above is a God of purity and light. He will abide no stains on us when we come unto him. Yet, he understands our humanity. After all, he is the one who created us, and we are made in his image. How can he not understand our natures completely? That is why he has given us the steam cycle.

He knows how to bring us to wrinkle-free, fresh-smelling perfection. All we have to do is follow his directions. One. Two. Three. Repent. Be baptized. Receive.

How simple is that?

Coming to Jesus does not have to be complicated. Let’s keep it easy, with Christ’s three steps. Repent. Be baptized. Receive. That’s really all there is to it, and we become brand new in Jesus.
