What slippery slope are you on?
What financial landslide is carrying you to devastation? The poorhouse, even?
How deep do the cracks in your relationship with your spouse run? Have they reached the core of your marriage?
Your children, your job, your parents, how far gone is too far gone?
At what point do you walk away and say that things are too far gone to be worth it?
Are WE too far gone to be worth it?
Psalm 94:18–19 tells us:
“When I thought, ‘My foot slips,’ Your steadfast love, O LORD, helped me up. When the cares of my heart are many, Your consolations cheer my soul.”
Isn’t that a daily thing for most of us? My foot slips. The quick retort we can’t take back. Driving over the speed limit … late for work again! It’s just a joke, so what’s the big deal? All movies are like that now, so we must live with it.
My foot slips, then again, and soon, we find ourselves halfway down the mountain.
As Christians, we have a lifeline. This verse tells us, “Your steadfast love, O LORD, helped me up.”
When we speak out of line, his love reminds us to apologize. That nudge to slow down, adjust our speed, yeah, that’s the love of God. Maybe I shouldn’t tell that joke … God tapping you on the shoulder. A surge of guilt when watching the latest movie … yeah, God here, reminding you that I’m here.
We slip, God offers his hand, and we can get back on the path. He loves us, and he desires us to walk hand-in-hand with him.
Reach your hand to Jesus and allow him to guide you every day.
