So, what’s the worst you’ve done?
It doesn’t matter … drugs, promiscuity, even betrayal.
What’s the thing you think separates you from man and God (or your spouse or friends or ???)?
You can’t do worse than Peter. Matthew 26 tells the time Peter out-and-out lied to the Master! Peter let his pride escape from his lips, and as we’ve all heard, pride goes before a fall.
And Peter fell hard.
Matthew 26:35 gives us Peter’s misguided promises to the Lord:
“But Peter declared, ‘Even if I have to die with you, I will never disown you.’ ”
And yet, and yet, three times Peter denied Jesus as the other disciples ran away.
Here’s our takeaway from this. Peter utterly failed Jesus in his darkest time, and yet … Jesus knew it would happen, and he forgave him beforehand.
Like Peter, you are already forgiven. There’s one step you must take. You must accept the Lord’s forgiveness and change your life to emulate his.
No matter what you’ve done, God can use you to bring him glory. Just ask Peter. Today, he is considered the Rock of the Church. He is our example that we are never too far gone to become useful to God.
