Driving a manual transmission on a track is a special feeling.
We become a piece of the car, an integral part of the process.
Our car’s not getting up to speed unless we tell it what to do. We must shift the gears to get our speed machine out on the tarmac.
Some of us are stuck in first gear.
We wind out our spiritual transmission, and we can’t seem to go any faster.
We hit our stall speed, and our Christian witness lugs along like we are back in the world.
God says there’s 3 Gears We Need to Shift.
Read in Proverbs 21:4 in the New Living Translation:
“Haughty eyes, a proud heart, and evil actions are all sin.”
Our First Gear:
Haughty eyes … are you looking down on others as less than you? Stop it. It’s time to shift into the gear of respect.
Our Second Gear:
A proud heart … do you give yourself credit for what life has given you? You’re about to stall. Shift into gratefulness to God.
Our Third Gear:
Evil actions … and you think this is still okay? You’re about to burn out your transmission. Shift into obedience to the laws of the Lord.
God wants you on the winner’s podium. He’s showing you how it’s done.
It’s time to shift gears into a better relationship with the Father and get your spiritual life up to speed.
