Just Like Jax

Being a BBF, or Best Buds Forever, is endearing, especially among children.

Similar likes. Maybe a matching appearance. Even living in the same neighborhood can draw our children together.

A story came out about two preschoolers, Reddy and Jax, who wanted to prank their teacher (in a good way, of course). They wanted to change seats and become the other person, because they saw themselves so much in each other.

In their minds, they were so much alike that if they could convince their parents to give them matching haircuts, their teacher wouldn’t be able to tell them apart.

They didn’t see the hitch in their plans. One of the boys was White, and the other Black.

That’s how the Lord wants us to be as Christians. Baptist, Methodist, Assembly of God, or Church of God? The important thing is that we’re more alike than different.

We are believers in the Son of God, and we espouse salvation as the only means of reaching heaven.

1 Corinthians 12:13 (ESV) tells us:

“For in one Spirit we were all baptized into one body—Jews or Greeks, slaves or free—and all were made to drink of one Spirit.”

One body in Christ. One church in him. One force for good marching forward to ensure the Great Commission reaches the entire world.

Just like Reddy and Jax, we must embrace our similarities, not our differences. Our Christian inheritance bonds us together and makes us stronger, not drives us apart.

White, Black, Episcopalian, or Baptist. We are in this together, and with Christ at the helm, we can make a difference in the lives of those we brush shoulders with every day.

Jesus is our number one authority, and the only thing he tells us to do is love one another.
