Good Where You Can

Not everyone can be an Elon Musk, a Warren Buffet, or a Bill or Melinda Gates, with bank accounts filled with cash to donate to charities for the good of other people.

Most of us struggle to get to the end of the month. What do we have to offer that would make any difference?

A lot, says Nasir Sobhani of Melbourne, Australia.

Sobhani is known as The Street Barber. In addition to his regular job six days a week in a barber shop, he hits the street with his comb and scissors. Not only does he work on people’s hair (and their self-image), but he also gives them his viewpoint that it’s never too late to make a fresh start in life.

Deuteronomy 31:6 tells us:

“Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you.”

Sometimes “us and them” takes the form of us and homelessness; us and depression; us and abuse. Us and hunger for things we can never have.

God says he will never leave nor forsake us. That’s Sobhani’s secular (and important) encouragement in Christian terms.

Trust in the Father. He wants to be your strength through every trouble.

Excerpt of the Day

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
