Embedded in Christ

English Audio Version

Mountaineers climb in dangerous territory.

Steep cliffs. Crumbly stone. Moisture-covered rock.

They can slip and fall, and sometimes they do.

Alex Honnold, the star of the Oscar-winning film Free Solo, regularly climbs heart-stopping mountain routes without ropes or what most of us would expect in safety gear.

In Greece, on vacation, the expert climber fell at Kalymnos, a popular destination for rock climbers, from nearly ten stories up the face.

Here’s what saved Honnold. On this occasion, he was clipped in. Affixed to a rope. Anchored to the rock.

In the spiritual realm, we are to be that anchor, that fixed point in the rock there to save those who are falling.

Psalm 112:8 says:

“His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.”

That’s the Christian experience. We are embedded directly into Christ, and our faith never wavers, even when we are falling. In our steadfast conviction, we rescue others along the way.

We are stronger in Christ than we can be in ourselves. How can we build our faith? Here are three ways.

1. Open your Bible and spend time in the Word.

2. Build relationships with fellow Christians. Then spend time with them.

3. Deepen your relationship with God through prayer and practicing trust in him.

When we become embedded in Christ, nothing can separate us from him.
