We are told that the pen is mightier than the sword.
A small thing we can balance on one finger can do more damage than a two-handed shaft of gleaming steel.
Our tongue? It weighs only a few ounces, yet it can slice and dice. Our words can strike out and do more damage than a pen ever could.
How about something with no physical substance at all? How much damage can it do?
Let’s look at Proverbs 25:18 to read about truth.
“A man who bears false witness against his neighbor is like a war club, or a sword, or a sharp arrow.”
False witness, or to lie. By definition, false witness is the opposite of the truth.
If we lie about a situation, we might as well whip out a war club and batter our neighbor on the head. We should go ahead and skewer them with a sword. Fling a sharp arrow into their body to bring devastation upon them.
God says that’s not what he gives us permission to do. We are to be better than that.
Truth is a feather that gently brushes our cheeks, and in the touch, we know the sweetness of God’s love.
Let’s be a feather and reveal God’s truth in all that we say and do.
