It’s easy to show up for Sunday service, chase the kids down after the benediction, and need a nap by the time lunch is finished.
Today’s a good day to remember your pastor, to take time from your sleepy afternoon, and write him or her a note telling how much you appreciate the sermon and the time it took to prepare.
Your pastor is a servant of God, but God’s servants need a pat on the back from time to time.
2 Thessalonians 1:3 says:
“We ought always to give thanks to God for you, brothers, as is right, because your faith is growing abundantly, and the love of every one of you for one another is increasing.”
When you tell your appreciation to your pastor, you will provide encouragement, a lift to their spirit, and motivation to jump into next week’s teaching with extra fervor.
Here are some other things you can do:
- Provide a gift card to a good restaurant.
- Offer to sit with their kids so they can have a night out.
- Send over a lawn service to do their yard.
They will appreciate the break, and you will show the love of God to them through your actions.
Our leaders need our love as they serve us as our pastors.
