People are our best asset in life.
We can drive fancy cars, live in homes like palaces, and have a kazoo of money in the bank, but we become emotionally bankrupt when we have no one to share it with.
We need to search out and hold tight to people who complement our personality and lifestyle. We must treasure their presence in our life, because nothing else is so vital and important as their time, love, and attention.
The Bible gives us 4 People to Treasure.
Proverbs 27:9 says a good friend offers us good advice.
“Oil and perfume make the heart glad, and the sweetness of a friend comes from his earnest counsel.”
We are made better when those around us lift us up.
Proverbs 13:20 cautions us to search out people who make good choices.
“Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm.”
We benefit from the wisdom we surround ourselves with.
Proverbs 14:7 raises the bar for our companions in life.
“Leave the presence of a fool, for there you do not meet words of knowledge.”
We need successful people around us to guide us into success.
Proverbs 27:6 encourages us to be patient with the people we love.
“Faithful are the wounds of a friend; profuse are the kisses of an enemy.”
We get honest words from true friends, even when the truth is painful to hear.
Let’s review our 4 People to Treasure.
- Those who give good advice.
- People who make good choices.
- Ones living successful lives.
- Friends who are honest with us.
When we find these people, do what it takes to keep them close. They make the rest of our life worthwhile.
God’s true gift in life is the people we have around us.
