Watch a good travel documentary or check out a cruise line itinerary.
Life is a glittering showcase of things to do and places to go.
Any travel brochure will convince you that there’s more to do in the world than we can ever see and do.
We must pick and choose where we allocate our time.
It’s easy to question if we have room for the church. We must fit in the baseball games, pool parties, and trips to our mountain cabin.
We must do it all, no matter what we must set aside.
Hebrews 10:24-25 gives us 2 secrets to protect our time with our fellow believers. We can’t forget that we are better together, and apart, we will struggle to follow wholly after Christ.
We can’t afford to go chasing after the sparkles and charms of this world, no matter how innocent, if it takes us away from our Christian fellowship.
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.”
Let’s pull out 2 secrets from this passage. Let’s name them one-by-one and write them on our hearts today.
Secret No. 1: We must not neglect our church.
- Show up for the Sunday service. Be there.
- Volunteer on Wednesday night.
- Show people we care.
Secret No. 2: We must encourage one another.
- “Good morning!”
- “It’s good to see you today.”
- “I’ll keep you in my prayers.”
Then follow through. That’s how we do it. It’s that simple. It really is.
God’s creation provides us a feast of life. Let’s remember not to forget the Father as we’re reveling in his bounty.
Our fellowship builds our strength to follow in the footsteps of our Lord.
