Too many people see life as a muddle.
THAT’S NOT YOU!
Too many people don’t know what it takes to be satisfied.
THAT DOESN’T APPLY TO YOUR LIFE!
You have the guidebook to joy.
You carry with you the instructions to a life that is better lived and better enjoyed than it used to be.
You are on the up and up because you’ve learned to trust in God.
Philippians 2:1-2 gives you 4 rules for gaining joy in your life.
“So if there is any encouragement in Christ, any comfort from love, any participation in the Spirit, any affection and sympathy, complete my joy by being of the same mind, having the same love, being in full accord and of one mind.”
Paul, the author of this passage, starts by having you look at the people you spend time with. Find the ones closest to Christ, who live the best lives possible.
Then follow these four rules:
Rule 1: Be of the same mind. Figure out how they think. Spend time with them. Discuss their beliefs and what drives them.
Rule 2: Have the same love. What do they treasure? What do they choose to put aside in their walk with Christ? Do the same.
Rule 3: Be in full accord. That means you must agree together. No arguing. No dissension. You must be a team.
Rule 4: Be of one mind. Be supportive. Back each other up. Don’t nitpick the small stuff but be each other’s bulwark before other people.
These four rules will bond you with others, give you a sense of family, align you with a right way of living, and provide emotional security for the times when things go wrong in your life (and they will go wrong).
That’s what joy is all about. It will be yours, through the saving grace of Christ our Lord.
Find joy in Jesus, and you will spread that joy to everyone you meet.
