The Marchers in the Band

English Audio Version

A marching band faces a formidable challenge.

How can 200 people stay perfectly aligned on a football field, when the only people they can see are those just in front of and beside them?

What about the Blue Angels, the crack jet pilots who do amazing maneuvers in their airplanes while flying just yards apart? Who can respond fast enough to do that?

We also have synchronized swimmers, dancers in musicals, and performers at Olympic ceremonies. How do they make it look so effortless?

The trick is simpler than we might think. We pay attention to the example at our side. We let them lead us, and we can match our steps perfectly every time.

Galatians 5:16 gives us our crack spiritual team.

“But I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.”

When the Spirit is walking by our side, and we’re not sure where to place our next step, just look at him, and see which way he’s moving. Then go that way. We’ll be the perfectly aligned band, the crack jet pilot, the swimmer, dancer, and performer that makes it look easy.

Just follow the Spirit, and we’ll be excellent every time.

Our guide in life must be our Savior. He’ll never let us down.
