Our Full Face Value

English Audio Version

Being transparent is paramount to building trust.

Financial companies must reveal everything in their investments, or we don’t trust them to manage our money.

Spouses can’t tell partial truths to each other, or doubt and distrust will destroy the relationship.

Who would agree to bungee jump with a fly-by-night outfit that refused inspections of their equipment?

Where, then, does our honesty meter need to ping with God?

How trustworthy do we need to appear when we come before him?

Psalm 101:7 reveals God’s opinion:

“No one who practices deceit shall dwell in my house; no one who utters lies shall continue before my eyes.”

Those are strong words. Remember Ananias and Sapphira in Acts 5:1-11? They lied to God before Peter, and they fell down and breathed their last.

No one wants to grieve the Holy Spirit, not after that example.

We must be as we appear to be, with nothing hiding in the background. If we’ve failed in the past, be transparent about it. If we’re struggling now, we can’t keep it a secret forever.

We must be full-face-value followers of Christ, exactly like him, and exactly as we seem.

Let’s let Christ be the only thing people find when they dig deep into the core of who we are.
