The person with the most toys wins in the end.
That’s a fun saying, and in a humorous way, it justifies spending money on frivolous things.
For men, it might mean boats, fast cars, and hunting equipment. Maybe a six-burner grill or a cabin in the woods.
For women, we can envision higher heels, brighter diamonds, and more purses than a month of Sundays. Or even kitchen appliances out the kazoo.
What happens when the need for these things becomes a competition, when the desire to win takes over our desire to be kind?
Proverbs 28:25 points to God as our better choice.
“A greedy man stirs up strife, but the one who trusts in the Lord will be enriched.”
When we’re all about who has the best toys, it’s easy to forget we’re in this together. Life isn’t meant to be a competition but a collaboration. Let’s work together to help everyone get ahead.
Our true strength comes from God, and we are empowered when we choose cooperation.
