Are you still waiting on the lottery? Have they not chosen your number?
Did I hear that right? You’ve never even purchased a ticket? How will they know you want to win?
How about that raise you’ve been expecting? Has your boss not offered it to you?
Are you joking? You haven’t even asked for it? Do you think he knows your desperate financial situation by default?
What do you mean your landlord hasn’t repaired your furnace? How can he be so callus?
Oh, wait, you’re telling me you haven’t reported it? There’s a good chance he doesn’t know it’s out.
What do we expect of God without telling him? Oh, we say, it’s God we’re talking about. We don’t have to tell him. He already knows.
Let’s see what Jeremiah 29:13-14 says about that.
“You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. I will be found by you, declares the Lord, and I will restore your fortunes and gather you from all the nations and all the places where I have driven you, declares the Lord, and I will bring you back to the place from which I sent you into exile.”
We are promised 3 Redemptions When We Seek God.
1. God will restore our fortunes. We will be lifted out of our crushing debt, and we will be prosperous once more.
2. God will take us out of the places that have stolen our joy and crushed our testimony. We are released from the prison of our circumstances.
3. God will return us to our rightful place as his children. Our social standing, the respect we once enjoyed, it will all be returned.
Notice what this passage doesn’t say. God doesn’t give us his 3 redemptions by default. It’s not an automatic win for those who call him Lord.
God says we must SEEK HIM WITH ALL OUR HEART.
That’s right. Seek God in the morning, at noon, and at night. Don’t stop until you break down the doors of heaven and hear from God. Then, God’s redemptions become yours.
God wants to lift you up. When you seek him, he will show you how.
