Wartime bunkers are made to last.
They are defensive fortifications built with one purpose in mind: to protect people or valued materials from attack.
How do we enter our bunker in our spiritual warfare? How do we fortify it against the attacks of the evil one?
We enter our bunker on our knees, and it’s fortified with prayer.
Philippians 4:6 says the battle can’t harm us when we come to God in prayer.
“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.”
John 15:7 assures us that our weapons of defense are plentiful and come directly from the Father above.
“If you abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.”
Mark 11:24 is our confidence that the supply line is secure, and our God will come to our defense.
“Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.”
1 Thessalonians 5:17 encourages us to remain in our bunker every minute of the day.
“Pray without ceasing.”
Romans 8:26 tells us our prayer bunker is stronger than we know. It’s built of spiritual intercession, through which no bad thing can penetrate.
“Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.”
Bunkers were used extensively in World War 1, World War 2, and the Cold War. Cheyenne Mountain in Colorado is widely known today. Our prayer bunkers need to be kept maintained and ready for imminent use, so that we have a place to run when the devil tries to take us down.
Our position of spiritual safety is only as far away as our knees.
