Silence.
At times, it seems the heavens reflect our prayers back at us. We implore God for revelation, and all we get is silence.
Daniel was a prophet. Specifically, he was given divinely inspired insight and foreknowledge about what was to happen.
That’s exciting and frightening at the same time. In the 9th chapter of Daniel, he’s given the revelation of the Messiah’s appearing and the advent of his crucifixion.
How exciting to know the Messiah is coming! How frightening to understand how he will die!
Daniel shouldered a heavy burden. He prayed for truth, and God answered.
We can say we want God to hear and answer our prayers, but what if the answer’s not what we want? What then?
Daniel 9:19 gives us Daniel’s resulting prayer before the Lord:
“O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.”
Our only choice, in the face of God's power and might, is to receive his word of truth and say, "Yea, Lord, your will be done."
When we ask God for truth, watch out. The Father may give us our answer.
