Confirming Our Upload

Someday we will live in the clouds. Some people say we already do. These are digital clouds, remote installations that save our digital data, allowing us to access it from anywhere.

To access our files from unfamiliar computers, the Cloud requires us to confirm our upload. It wants to know we have permission to access our storage before it lets us in. It wants to know that we are who we say we are.

Let’s look for a moment at our digital Christianity. Being a faithful Christian requires us to be constantly in touch with the Cloud. Then, one day we will upload to heaven. Will God recognize us for who we say we are, or will he say, “Password not accepted. Access denied.”

Ouch. We don’t want that to happen. We need to keep our password current.

1 Peter 5:8 tells us someone wants to steal our password:

“Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour.”

John 14:6 tells us we can’t hack our way in:

“Jesus said to him, ‘I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.’ ”

Numbers 23:19 is our guarantee that our connection is secure:

“God is not man, that he should lie, or a son of man, that he should change his mind. Has he said, and will he not do it? Or has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?”

Genesis 1:1 reminds us that God created the Cloud, and he owns the patents on the portals into heaven:

“In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth.”

Revelation 14:12 encourages us to keep uploading as many new believers as we can:

“Here is a call for the endurance of the saints, those who keep the commandments of God and their faith in Jesus.”

Our digital computing Cloud mimics our digital Christianity in one very important way. We can access our Father from anywhere on earth. There is no place we can go that our access to him is denied.

When we close our eyes in prayer, we can trust that God will be there.

Excerpt of the Day

A promise to the devil can be laughed off when we have Jesus standing at our side. A promise from the devil is worthless, and should be laughed off even faster.
