Here’s a funny quip we see on t-shirts and gag gifts.
The one who dies with the most toys wins.
That’s funny, but it’s not God’s way. God says the opposite is true.
Here’s God’s Giveaway Rule in Luke 6:38.
“Give, and it will be given to you. Good measure, pressed down, shaken together, running over, will be put into your lap. For with the measure you use it will be measured back to you.”
It’s not the one that dies with the most toys that wins. It’s the one that’s given the most toys away.
That pool you put in. How many times did you encourage your Sunday school class to come use it?
Your new car. Did you give anyone a ride to church … and how often?
Your raise at work. Did any of it go to missions? More than ten percent?
God’s giveaway rule says that the more you give away, the more God will give back to you.
Your generosity will nourish generosity in others. One good deed will precipitate a second.
Your brotherly love will spread with growth so vigorous that not even the devil will be able to slow it down.
God gives to us so that we can share our surplus with those around us.
When we live generously, life is better for everyone.
