Life can be a bruiser.
Come at us like a fist and try to beat us down before we even get started.
Pulverize our dreams before we can even dream them.
Liz Murray felt life was against her from the beginning. Homeless, and by her own account, smelly and lice-ridden, humiliation forced her to drop out of school.
At the lowest of the low, her HIV-inflected mother traded a Thanksgiving turkey given to them by a church for drugs.
Yet, Liz refused to let her parents’ life be hers. By 17, she was determined to chart her own course, became a straight-A student, and graduated from Harvard University.
Now she is a bestselling author whose journey has been made into a Lifetime film.
1 John 3:2-3 says:
“Beloved, now we are children of God; and it has not yet been revealed what we shall be, but we know that when He is revealed, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. And everyone who has this hope in Him purifies himself, just as He is pure.”
You are not what life tries to make you into. It’s time to look beyond your current situation.
You are what God says you can be, purified through Christ, and a success in him. You are a child of the King. Claim it. It’s yours.
