Scattering Our Diamonds

English Audio Version

Consider your good stuff.

You know what we’re talking about. The dinner service you get out once a year. That coat you only wear on special occasions. The ring with the really big diamond.

And now to the big stuff. Your classic car that you only drive on sunny days. Your beach house. Your cabin in the mountains, yes, the 4,000 square foot one.

Then there are the people we consider special . . . have you made your list yet?

Now let’s look to Romans 13:14:

“But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires.”

This verse is about priorities. What do we put first, at the top of the pecking order, the thing we think about first thing in the morning?

What fills our time when we have free time, eats up our Saturday, and makes us think twice about church on Sunday morning?

Simply put, God must come first. The other stuff? If it’s in the way, well, we know what to do. Read the title. Enough said about that.

We know we are God’s child when we don’t think twice about setting everything else aside to spend time with him.

If something leads us astray, toss it aside and leave it on the side of the road.
