Purity, by definition, is something special.
Webster’s defines it like this:
The quality or state of being pure
So, we must ask ourselves what it means to be pure. Webster’s can help us there, also.
Unmixed with any other matter
The list goes on to say that if we are pure, there’s nothing in us that pollutes us, we have no moral fault or guilt, and we keep ourselves ritually clean.
Let’s see what 2 Peter 1:4 has to say about purity.
“By which he has granted to us his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may become partakers of the divine nature, having escaped from the corruption that is in the world because of sinful desire.”
When we step into Christ, we become partakers of his divine nature.
In other words, we are clothed in God’s divine purity.
We escape from the corruption that is in the world and we work to maintain our pure nature through the redemptive power of Jesus.
It’s like Merriam-Webster tells us: Something pure contains nothing that does not properly belong. We become free from that which weakens or pollutes us. We are cleansed of sin and corruption.
As Christians, sinful desire is kicked out the door. We become partakers of Christ, who is the gift of God’s pure nature unto us.
Reach out to Jesus. He desires to make you new once again.
