God looks out for his children.
And still we struggle.
Like a parent who runs alongside a child on that first bike ride, the bike might wobble, and the balance might not be perfect, but God’s hands are there to catch us.
Even if we fall, we won’t hit the ground. It’s impossible. We have God’s big hands ready to catch us as soon as we’re too far off kilter.
Fear of our outcome isn’t part of God’s plan.
2 Timothy 1:7 paints a clear picture of how God is working things out for each and every one of us:
“For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.”
Got that? God does not give us a spirit of fear. Not now, not tomorrow, and not at any point in anything we do.
We need to toss that idea out the window.
Let’s focus on what God does give. It’s in these three things that we’re empowered in him.
We are empowered with power. It’s obvious. The power of God empowers us to bigger and better things.
We are empowered with love. Wow! It’s time to get excited. Love reaches outside us and touches the people around us. Love allows us to connect with the hurting and the lost.
We are empowered with self-control. Self-control? Absolutely. Self-control allows us to make better choices, determine our footsteps, and channel our thoughts on the things of God.
We might still struggle, but God’s hands are there. Even if we stumble, we’ll never hit the ground. God will catch us as we fall.
We are empowered in Christ, and it’s time we live like it.
