What’s in a connection? As in, what does it mean to be connected?
Is it something tangible, a thing we can touch, or is it destined to be ephemeral, a vapor that vanishes in the harsh light of another day?
Merriam-Webster suggests it’s no more than a relationship between two meanings or ideas.
Dictionary.com also says it’s the thing that links us together.
The Oxford Living Dictionary gives an example of a train or a bus that gets us from one place to another.
Where does our connection with God fit into all this?
Is it intangible, invisible to the eye, only there in our imagination?
Perhaps it’s only the idea of a heavenly being, there for our comfort and peace of mind.
Or, perhaps, just perhaps, our connection with God is a very real thing that allows our soul to be transported into the presence of a very real God.
Psalm 76:7 tells us how to make our connection with God real and definable.
“Make your vows to the Lord your God and perform them; let all around him bring gifts to him who is to be feared.”
What this verse says is to approach God, and then do what he says to do.
Odd, but can it be that simple? Can forging a very real connection to God be that straightforward?
And if it is, how do we know what he wants from us?
Oh, that’s so easy. He tells us in the Bible. It’s his Holy Word, his instruction manual, the book that he inspired so we would know how to live a life that’s pleasing to him.
Read the Word. Do what it says.
Let’s get connected. Let’s forge a new relationship with God today.
