Diamonds aren’t pretty when they’re dug from the ground.
They’re often dirty, misshapen rocks that hardly look like anything at all. They resemble a chunk of poorly formed glass more than anything else.
Yet when shaped and polished with a master’s touch, a diamond can take in light, break it into its individual wavelengths, and flash it back out with incredible brilliance.
We must find our internal diamond, the skill we have that is useful for the Lord. Once the Master begins to shape our skill, he will polish it to perfection, and his love will shine through us with incredible brilliance.
1 Peter 4:10 encourages us to let our diamond shine.
“As each has received a gift, use it to serve one another, as good stewards of God's varied grace.”
Are you a teacher? Perhaps you own a lawnmower. Maybe baking is your forte. Or is your skill best suited to calling people who’ve missed out on the Sunday service?
What you’ve got available and what you’re good at is what God will hone as your diamond. Even the smallest diamonds flash with the fire of the sun. When your skill is polished by Jesus, you’ll be filled with the fire of the Son. People will see him in you, and they will want to experience the power that lives in you.
When we shine with Jesus, the world won’t be able to look away.
