How do our fingernails look?
Do we wear a manicure extraordinaire? Do we pride ourselves on our freshly scrubbed fingers?
Check out a worker’s hands. Yes, the people who do the dirty jobs, the dishwashing, the lawn care, and the car maintenance. A painter’s hands often reveal his duties, and a mother’s nails are rarely pristine.
What we do reveals who we are. We need to get our hands dirty for Christ.
James 1:22 commands us to follow the precepts of the Bible. We must read it and follow its instructions.
“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.”
Colossians 3:23 tells us the work we do for the Lord is more important than that which we do for men. We can’t afford to be slackers for Christ.
“Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
1 Corinthians 15:58 assures us that whatever we immerse ourselves in for the Lord will bring us a good reward in the end. We’ve wasted nothing when we invest our time in Christ.
“Therefore, my beloved brothers, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that in the Lord your labor is not in vain.”
James 4:7 reminds us we don’t have to be deluded by the devil. If we have faith in God, the devil has no pull over us.
“Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.”
Luke 16:13 tells us what divides the committed Christian from the wannabe. If we’re devoted to Christ, he is the one that will matter in everything we do.
“No servant can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.”
Our testimony is all in our fingertips. If we’re scarred with the work we’ve done, then Christ is our all-in-all, for we’re committed totally unto him.
