God is love.
John 3:16
“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
For God so loved the world . . .
John 17:2
“As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him.”
We are given to Jesus.
John 17:10
“And all mine are thine, and thine are mine; and I am glorified in them.”
Jesus is glorified in us.
John 17:20
“Neither pray I for these alone, but for them also which shall believe on me through their word;”
This is not only for the disciples, but to all who believe.
John 17:23
“I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as thou hast loved me.”
God loves us as he loved Jesus.
John 17:26
“And I have declared unto them thy name, and will declare it: that the love wherewith thou hast loved me may be in them, and I in them.”
The love that is in Jesus is in us. We have been chosen by God as a gift to be given to Jesus (for his bride). Like Abraham sent the servant to find a bride for Isaac, they both loved each other and God blessed their lives together.
Samson sought after his own bride and ran into all kinds of trouble, even to the point of losing his life.
We are the bride of Christ. We have been chosen of God by the Holy Spirit to be the bride of Christ, to be given the same love that God has given Christ.
Sometimes the enemy (Satan) comes against us. He hates Jesus, and since he has already been defeated by the power of Jesus, he tries to hurt Him by attacking His bride. In life, sometimes if a girl gets mad at her girlfriend, she will strike back at her by trying to take her boyfriend. Even if she doesn’t really care for him, it is a way of hurting the other girl.
John 17:2, 6
“As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that he should give eternal life to as many as thou hast given him. I have manifested thy name unto the men which thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and thou gavest them me; and they have kept thy word.”
God has given us to Jesus for His bride. Like in weddings, the minister says, “Who gives this woman?” The father says, “I do.” So the heavenly Father gives us to Jesus for His bride.
In the spirit, the more we love the bridegroom, the more we love each other. Not so in the natural. If a girl loves a guy, she doesn’t want others loving him.
Revelation 21:2, 9
“And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.
“And there came unto me one of the seven angels which had the seven vials full of the seven last plagues, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the bride, the Lamb's wife.”
Revelation 22:17
“And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.”
The Spirit and the bride say come.
Ephesians 5:25-27
“Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; that he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, that he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.”
We must be without spot or wrinkle.
John 15:9-13
“As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love. If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love. These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full.
“This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you. Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Greater love hath no man . . .
1 John 3:1-5
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not. Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.
“And every man that hath this hope in him purifieth himself, even as he is pure. Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law. And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
What manner of love is this that He should die for us?
