Our BARBECUE God

Having a BARBECUE is more than eating a slice of flavored brisket. It is a feast, a gathering of friends and family, a meal spread under the trees, and a treat to every one of our five senses.

When we gather for a BARBECUE, we gather for a sensory sensation that leaves us swooning with flavorful delights.

Gathering before our God is the same. He provides us with a smorgasbord of treats, and when we are with him, we cannot help but revel in the feast he provides.

Let’s look at our BARBECUE God:

B – He BURNS with a fire that sears us to perfection.

Deuteronomy 5:23 tells us that he speaks out of the darkness; when we come near, the very mountains BURN with the fire of his presence and righteousness.

A – He ARRAYS us to be a treat to the senses and a delight to the eye.

Genesis 41:42 relates Joseph’s rise from slave to Pharaoh’s right-hand man. He was ARRAYED in fine linen, with a chain of gold around his neck.

R – He RUBS our meal with the spices of his love, so that we will not hunger.

Luke 6:1 tells us the Lord walked the fields with his disciples, and they RUBBED the ears of corn, and they did eat.

B – He BESEECHES us to join him for a taste of his goodness.

2 Corinthians 2:8 draws us to the Father, for he BESEECHES us to confirm our love toward him.

E – He ENRICHES us with all the trimmings that make our feast a treat to the senses.

1 Corinthians 1:5 states that in everything we are ENRICHED by God, in every utterance, and in all knowledge.

C – From his CRUSE flows the unending sauce that flavors our walk with him.

1 Kings 17:16 gives us the reassurance that God’s promises are unending; they will never cease; for he is our faithful provider. His CRUSE of blessings will never run dry.

U – His UNCTION anoints our meal with the bounty of his presence.

1 John 2:20 assures us that when we gather before the Lord, he bestows his UNCTION on us. He has given us the truth of his presence.

E – He ESTEEMS our company at his table to be an honor unto him.

1 Thessalonians 5:13 is our pat on the back, for when we labor for Christ, we will be ESTEEMED before him.

When we gather at the feast of God, he will treat us with a BARBECUE spread of the finest quality. We will leave stuffed to the gills, and nothing will have been left undone.

When God throws a BARBECUE, he pulls out all the stops. We will feast as we’ve never feasted before.
