Happy Face

The well-known smiling face in a circle has become an iconic image of happiness. It expresses the emotions we want to show to the world, and all with a few strokes of a pen.

In the digital world we see that little happy face popping up more and more. Type a colon with a parenthesis in an email or a document, and our computer pops up that familiar smiling face, telling the reader that we are happy, happy, happy!

We can place our smiling face anywhere.

The Bible gives us happy faces all through the scriptures. Let’s look at several of them.

Happy Face #1 – We are to find our happiness in Jesus.

Psalms 37:4 - Delight thyself also in the LORD; and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart.

Happy Face #2 – We will find happiness in the works we do for Christ.

Ecclesiastes 3:12 - I know that there is no good in them, but for a man to rejoice, and to do good in his life.

Happy Face #3 – Time in the presence of God will give us happiness.

Philippians 4:4 - Rejoice in the Lord alway: and again I say, Rejoice.

Happy Face #4 – Our salvation gives us strength and a song of happiness.

Isaiah 12:2 - Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

Happy Face #5 – Following God’s plan will fill us with happiness.

Psalms 40:8 - I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart.

Happy Face #6 – God’s peace is the foundation of true happiness.

Philippians 4:7 - And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Happy Face #7 – True happiness comes from the source of our salvation: Jesus, the Son of God.

Proverbs 3:13 - Happy is the man that findeth wisdom, and the man that getteth understanding.

There is no happy sticker that can truly provide happiness. Neither can keystrokes on a keyboard. Rather, we must look to the one who can give us true happiness.

We can seek happiness in the world, but we will find it only through Christ our Redeemer.
